6.0/10

My stay at Generator Amsterdam was quite mixed. While the location was lovely, nestled in a park and not too far from public transport, I faced issues with extra charges and room cleanliness. The atmosphere was friendly, and the included breakfast was decent, but the noise level from events was frustrating at night. Overall, it was a decent experience, but it had its share of drawbacks.

Rooms
6.0
The room was clean with all bedding provided, but we had to make our own beds. There was little space, and the lighting could be better. Additionally, sharing a room meant some security concerns, as I noticed one of my roommates had taken my hoodie.
Service
5.0
Staff were generally helpful at check-in and throughout my stay, but I experienced unprofessionalism when I was knocked in on by the cleaning crew before check-out time. I also had issues with unexpected billing.
Location
8.0
The hostel's location is fantastic, right next to a beautiful park and close to tram stations which made it easy to reach the city center. This peaceful setting was definitely a highlight of my stay.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was decent with a variety of options, but I found it frustrating that the hostel did not have a shared kitchen, meaning I had to dine out for meals, leading to extra expenses.
Facilities
6.0
The hostel's common areas were well-designed and clean, providing a good spot to socialize, but the noise from private events was quite disruptive during the night.

6.0/10

I had a relatively good stay at Generator Amsterdam, primarily thanks to its excellent location and vibrant social atmosphere. The rooms were clean and modern, which was a plus, but I found the prices for services like breakfast and luggage storage a bit steep. The check-in process was frustrating, with long queues that ate into my time. Overall, while I enjoyed certain aspects of my stay, the costs and the check-in experience left something to be desired.

Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was clean and spacious with comfortable beds, but it felt slightly overpriced as it lacked some basic amenities like a TV. I also had to make my own bed upon arrival, which was unexpected.
Service
5.0
The staff were friendly and helpful, especially at the reception where they assisted with transportation inquiries. However, the long wait times for check-in were quite irritating and detracted from the overall experience.
Location
8.0
Generator's location is fantastic, nestled next to a beautiful park, and just a 10-minute tram ride from the city center. It made exploring Amsterdam very convenient, which I really appreciated.
Dining
6.0
I found the café's food to be quite tasty, but it was on the pricier side. Breakfast wasn’t included in my stay, which I felt should have been the case considering the overall cost.
Facilities
6.0
The hostel offers some solid facilities, including a lively bar and good WiFi, but charges for extras like towels and luggage storage which felt excessive.

6.2/10

I had a mixed experience at Generator Amsterdam. On the positive side, the atmosphere was lively and inviting, and I enjoyed my spacious, clean room. However, the location was a bit further from the city center than I expected, and the breakfast wasn't included, which felt inconvenient.

Rooms
7.0
My room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and a unique pod-style design that offered privacy. However, I found it a bit inconvenient that I had to make my own bed.
Service
9.0
The staff were friendly and always ready to help, from checking me in to assisting at the bar. Their 24/7 availability was a definite plus during my stay.
Location
6.0
While the hostel is located next to a lovely park, it took me about 40-45 minutes to walk to Centraal Station. Proximity to tram stops makes it easier to access the city center within about 15 minutes.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast was decent but not included in my booking, which felt a bit inconvenient. The coffee was excellent, though!
Facilities
7.0
The common areas were well-designed and vibrant, but I encountered some issues with access cards not working properly. The facilities were generally convenient and clean.

6.4/10

Generator Amsterdam is a visually stunning hostel located in a peaceful park, which promotes a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are clean and the individual bathrooms are a fantastic feature. However, my experience was marred by a frustrating check-in process and the rudeness of a staff member, which left me feeling vulnerable during an already stressful situation.

Rooms
7.0
The room I stayed in was well designed, featuring comfy beds with privacy screens and great bathroom facilities. However, the size was quite small and I struggled with limited hooks for my belongings.
Service
6.0
While some staff were friendly and helpful, I encountered a rude receptionist during check-in, which significantly impacted my experience. The overall customer service felt inconsistent.
Location
8.0
The hostel's location is quite convenient, as it’s easy to access trams to the city center. Plus, the serene environment offered by Oosterpark is lovely, especially on sunny days.
Dining
7.0
I enjoyed the food available at the on-site cafe, although the breakfast wasn’t included in my stay and I found the prices a bit on the higher side. I would have appreciated more options.
Facilities
7.0
The hostel boasts modern facilities, including clean common areas and convenience stores. I did find the laundry facilities to be limited with only two washers and dryers, which could be better.

5.4/10

My stay at Generator Amsterdam was a mixed experience. While the place was large, clean, and located in a beautiful park with easy access to trams, the social atmosphere was lacking. The reception staff wasn't particularly welcoming during check-in, and my experience with the breakfast buffet was disappointing. Overall, I appreciated the facilities but felt it could be more inviting for solo travelers.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were spacious and clean, featuring a cozy design. However, I found that some rooms, notably those not serviced by the elevator, were quite challenging to access, especially with luggage.
Service
5.0
While the staff I interacted with were friendly, my experience with the morning receptionist was frustrating. She didn't seem empathetic when I faced payment issues, which left me feeling vulnerable.
Location
8.0
Generator Amsterdam is located in a lovely green park, providing a peaceful atmosphere just a short tram ride away from the city center. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the heart of Amsterdam, making it a convenient spot.
Dining
5.0
The on-site café had a decent selection, but I found the breakfast buffet overpriced and not worth the hassle. My scrambled eggs were cold, and the bread took forever to arrive.
Facilities
6.0
The hostel has great facilities, including a bar and common areas, but the vibe felt more solitary than communal, lacking events that encourage interaction between guests.
